Emotion and Social Effectiveness Program (EASE)

We are currently enrolling for the next round of our EASE and RELATING WITH EASE groups.

Emotion and Social Effectiveness Program (EASE)

What is EASE?

EASE is a 12-week didactic skills training group that teaches select Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, including mindfulness, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance.

Who Should Enroll?

EASE is designed for adults (aged 18 years or older) who are interested in using techniques based on recent research to improve relationships and enhance mood regulation skills. Over the course of this 12-week group, participants will learn and practice skills related to acceptance, assertiveness, and self-validation, among other topics. We welcome individuals with no prior DBT experience, as well as those who are seeking a DBT skills refresher. EASE may be used as an adjunct to existing individual therapy, although individual therapy is not a requirement for enrollment.

How to Enroll?

1) Please complete the EASE application (click here) and submit via mail or fax to:

The Wake-Kendall Group, PLLC
Attention: EASE Program
5247 Wisconsin Ave NW, Suite 4
Washington, DC 20015
Fax: 202-362-9633

2) After we receive your application, we will contact you within a week. If appropriate, we will then schedule an in-person interview to assess your needs and eligibility for the group.

Please note: In contrast to Wake Kendall’s DBT Program, EASE includes solely a didactic skills component and covers a condensed overview of DBT skills. Individuals seeking more intensive and comprehensive skills training in adherence to Linehan’s DBT model are encouraged to apply to Wake Kendall’s DBT program (click here). If we find that the EASE program does not meet your needs, we will be happy to refer you to the appropriate treatment.

What is RELATING WITH EASE?

RELATING WITH EASE is designed to offer coping strategies for family and friends of individuals who are suffering with problems of emotion regulation and who may or may not be part of the Wake Kendall DBT program. This 14-week course combines the material from the EASE group with the parenting material from the Adolescent Groups. The focus will be on applying DBT skills to managing difficult relationships while practicing self-care. To apply, please complete the RELATING WITH EASE application (click here) and mail to above address.

To find the next starting date for EASE and/or RELATING WITH EASE courses, please feel free to call our intake coordinator at 202-686-7699, ext. 30 or sign up for WakeKendall Updates. For any additional inquiries, also contact our intake coordinator.
